Meepo NLS Pro Review

May 23, 2021

This is my Meepo NLS Pro Review. The Meepo NLS Pro is the latest Electric Skateboard by Meepo and it improves on what was already a very good board.
Some of the upgrades and incremental while others are leaps and bounds ahead of the NLS.
One standout change is the range and top speed. We have seen a huge change here, so let's get into it.

Meepo NLS Pro Review

Range

20miles / 31km
The range of the Meepo NLS Pro has seen a big improvement over the previous NLS electric skateboard which would get you 14 miles.
Being over 20 miles starts putting the NLS Pro in the same league as the Evolve boards.
Having the flexibility which a larger battery will bring is something you didn’t realize you needed until you’ve got it. So if you do have the extra cash to get the Pro version then for the range, it's certainly worth it.

Top Speed

Considering Meepo Boards have always had a pretty good high speed, and this is also relative to other very expensive electric skateboards.
But with the ability to travel up to 32mph, it now pushes it to the top of being the fastest production electric skateboard on the market.
Do you need an electric skateboard capable of going this fast? No, Do you need one that goes this fast? Most people will say yes.
If you are considering traveling at these speeds, them being an experienced rider is a must.

Deck

Meepo NLS Pro

We see the same deck which can be found on the Meepo NLS (Meepo NLS Review) in terms of materials with the layer of bamboo and two layers fiberglass.
Meepo has made some improvements with the design of the deck making the wire which connects the battery with the ESC pretty my pretty much invisible.
The bump caused by the connecting wire was a big talking point when the NLS was first released, although it made absolutely no difference to the ride itself as you couldn’t feel it at all.
So, it's nice to see Meepo listening to the customers and making improvements to future modles. Which, as a customer, is always good, to see.
The feel as I stated in my Review of the NLS it feels great. Has excellent flex and has a very comfortable ride even at high speeds.
Meepo has also added a foam style grip tape. Giving you added cushioning while you ride. With the combination of the flexible deck and big 100mm wheels (More information on this below), you get an incredibly smooth ride.

Remote

Meepo board NR Remote

The NLS Pro ships with the NR (Night Ride) remote as standard.
Different to many other remotes used in production board as it comes equipped with the flashlight.

My personal preference would be a slightly smaller, more subtle remote without the flashlight built in. But if you are a rider which does tend to venture out in low light, then the remote will be very handy indeed.
You get the usual thumb scrolling wheel to control the speed and breaking. Along with the lights to indicate battery levels, a connection between remote and board & riding mode.
Another feature you get which you don’t see on may other boards is the ability to charge your remote straight from the battery on the NLS Pro.

Trucks

You get shredder trucks on the board right out the box. Giving you a nice smooth carve every time.

Meepo Electric Skateboard NLS ProWheels

Wheels on the Meepo NLS Pro are 100mm in size.

Having wheels this size will give you a very comfortable ride. The format will help you cruise over bumps and cracks in the road which may be more of a problem on boards which have smaller wheels.

ESC

Meepo has now upgraded from V2 to the Hobbywing ESC. The very same ESC which can be found on the Ownboard W2 & Wowgo boards.
The hobbywing ESC has become a popular choice by manufacturers because of its incredibly smooth acceleration & breaking curve.
Along with the other improvements Meepo has made with the Hardware on this NLS Pro giving you a very smooth ride.

Design

Meepo NLS Pro Review

The overall look of the skateboard is perfect. It has a premium design, and even on close inspection has a premium finish, we were once accustomed to manufactures with a much higher price point. Dont forget Meepo Usually have discounts codes, so its always possible to catch a sale.

The underside of the board has been described by many as being a copy of a Boosted Board. But I don’t see the downside of this, as the overall look is excellent and not a complete copy in my book.

The Fusion of Maple and fiberglass gives the side of the deck a beautiful striped look which is quite distinctive and something we’ve only really seen on the NLS.

I mentioned about the cable bump under the grip tape with the older version of this board. Meepo has now reduced this dump and its no longer visible.  I wouldn’t have called this a problem, as it no impact on performance or comfort.

The NLS series doesn’t have a cutout handle as we’ve seen on the V2 & V3 boards. It does look better without one, but it is easy to carry a board with the handle if you are going to carrying it for more than a few minutes.

Conclusion of the Meepo NLS Pro Review

Well, that is it. You’ve made it to the end of my Meepo NLS Pro Review. I’m pretty impressed with this board, and Meepo has managed to squeed out a little bit extra compared to the NLS.
Top speed and range are the most significant standout features of this board and rightly so. With the high speed of 31mph is a great highlight to be throwing around, but on the whole, does anyone need an electric skateboard capable of going this fast? I don’t think so.
With the range increase it's going to be a welcomed feature for anyone, be it if you’re a beginner or experienced rider. Having the freedom and not having to worry about getting stuck without a charge is a significant relief.
Considering the price, I think it is worth getting one over the NLS, but with the price increase, it does create a bit of a gap between its main rival the Wowgo 3.
If you have the extra money, I think it's worth going for the Meepo NLS Pro. But if the price of the NLS Pro is slightly on the steep side, then you should look at getting the Wowgo 3.
