Best Boosted Board Alternative

May 7, 2021

Boosted board alternative electric skateboard has been searched plenty of times as people would like to get into eskate. But are on willing to pay the exorbitant prices of owning a boosted board.
I was in precisely the same situation, I knew about all the big brands like Boosted & Evolve, but as many of you are aware, there is a hefty price tag to go with them.

But there are plenty of other electric skateboards out there which are a fraction of the price and offer very similar specs.

Best Boosted Board Alternative

Backfire G2T

Overall this is by far my favourite boosted board alternative. Backfire first released their electric skateboard back in 2012 and have been going from strength to strength since then.
Backfire Boards are instantly recognizable with their Galaxy grip tape along with the white wheels.
But not only does the board look fantastic it also has excellent specs as well.

With a Top Speed of 23.5mph or 38kph, it is certainly not lacking in this department compared to the boosted. Really across the board performance-wise, the Backfire G2T can't be faulted when considering it as a boosted alternative. Here are the rest of the numbers below:

Range:14.9miles or 24km
Weight: 14.5lbs or 6.5KG

Wheels: Four 83mm wheels + Four 96mm wheels
The only area in performance the Backfire G2T lacks compared to the boosted, and that's the power. A total of 700w from the two hub motors less as you get 2000w of power from the duel belt-driven motors on the Boosted Board.

There any time that you notice the power difference in the acceleration and hill climbs. But for me the differences here on and off considering the price difference of the two boards.
You get an awful lot that comes in the box with the Backfire G2T. A complete replacement set of wheels which are 90 mm in size, also mount for you to attach a light to your electric skateboard.

But if I have been shipping free of charge for most countries worldwide with also the ability to buy the boards on Amazon.

Ownboard W2

Ownboard W2 cheap Boosted board alternative

If we consider the hardware the Ownboard W2 It's ultimately the closest to being a boosted board alternative in this list.
The main reason is that the Ownboard W2 Is powered by a dual motor belt driven system.
And then we delve deeper into the actual performance of the board. And Again we see some very similar figures.

Top Speed: 26mph
Range: 14 Miles

Other parts of the board are something you wouldn't usually see on a "budget electric skateboard." With the Appearance of the Hobbywing ESC, You can be assured of Having an incredibly smooth ride as we have seen this many times on other boards which also have the same ESC.

The set up of the motors is easily adjustable allowing you to change the tension of the motor belt.
Once you've considered everything, the Price, belt-driven motors, Hobbywing ESC, the Ownboard W2 is incredibly versatile and will almost everyone's usage requirements. The bonus of having the belt-driven motors will allow you to have regular Longboard wheels at the back.

By having this ability, you'll get a smoother ride and more grip. The wheels are also less susceptible to crack as the PU of the rear wheels is thicker compared to the hub motor variants.

Exway X1 Pro

Released at the start of 2019, Exway has managed to pack an awful lot of useful features into a stealthy, light package.

Considering the range of this eskate board is 25km, the overall weight of the board is only 6.5kg.
The performance on the X1 Pro isn't too shabby either, With the option of a turbo mode, this increases the power of the board from 1000W to 1200W.

This is an awful lot of power considering its drivetrain or two hub motors.

The design of the overall board is very minimalistic with a thin deck, With both the ESC and the battery contained within it. It's actually quite hard to tell at first glance it's even an electric skateboard because there are no noticeable parts sticking out

Teamgee H5

[amazon fields="B07GGTR2X6" value="button"]

Teamgee have been making some nice looking electric skateboards for a while now, and they are very well like within the electric skateboard community.

The Teamgee H5 pretty much sits well within your standard electrical longboard, With a 37 inch deck, and a top speed of 22 mph which is pushed along by 670 W of dual hub motors. Range Always something to look for when buying an electric skakeboard, as the higher the range, usually means a bigger battery and that's when it can start getting expensive.

Teamgee has a range of 11 miles, which is higher than the standard, and actually, push if not beat most of the boosted boards avalable on range.

One of the top reasons why I like the teamgee style, Is the stealthiness of the board. As all the electrical payment or actually built within the deck, To a innocent Bystander, it's actually incredibly hard for them to tell it's a electric skateboard.

As everything is inbuilt within the deck the downside of this is the amount of flex you have from the deck. Obviously it is a lot stiffer and therefore the ride won't be as comfortable.

Azbo H6

Many may not have heard of it Azbo before in terms of building Electric Skateboards. But they have quite a few different models available to buy, including one of the best boosted mini alternative.

The Azbo H6 is the very definition of a Boosted Board Alternative. When you consider the type of specs, you are getting compared to the overall price. You are getting a great bargain.

Top speed of 25mph Is faster than any boosted model. It's only a little bit faster, which many people probably won't be too fussed about as anything about 20mph I consider very quick.

One difference we can mostly see between the boosted board alternatives and boosted is the power. The Boosted Board Stealth has a whooping 2,100w of power Between the duel belt-driven motors, and Most other cheap boosted board alternatives are around the 700w plus.

But the Azbo H6 packs 2000w of hub motor power, so If you're on the heavier side and worried about the chances of making up steep hills, is one of the best boards in the business considering the price tag along with it.

It's worth noting that the hub motors don't have swappable PU Wheels. What this means is, when the wheel around the outside of the hub motor inevitably wears out, you will have to replace the entire wheel and motor.

Wowgo 3

wowgo 3 Boosted board Alternative
Meepo NLS Review

Wowgo first burst onto the scene with their Wowgo 2s. Although the first production electric skateboard, It was the first one to win turn heads and start selling in huge numbers globally.

The Wowgo 3 Has seen some impressive improvements over the wowgo 2S and has really shown what companies can achieve for a fraction of the price.

Many of you know the look of the Boosted Board, and when the Wowgo 3 was first released it was touted as being a direct boosted board copy. That may annoy some people but, but if you're looking for the best cheap boosted board alternative, then this could well be it.

It behaves like a Boosted Board and also looks very much like one.

The top Speed of 24mph is slightly faster than the boosted board stealth and also has a slightly better range of 14 miles. Which is remarkable considering it's around half the price.

The other components have been upgraded from the usual standard you received from the Chinese board. You get Zealous Bearing, Which will substantially enhance the ride and range. The Wowgo 3 also comes with Paris V2 trucks for a better carve and more stability at higher speeds.

See my Wowgo 3 Review for more details.

Meepo NLS

Meepo released the NLS at the end of 2018 and is currently their flagship eskate board. Along with a few other manufacturers, Meepo is one of the most famous brands when making budget electric skateboards.

The NLS is the first board that Meepo has released where we can consider them a serious contender as being a boosted board alternative.

We can see they have made lots of little changes like changing the deck, ESC, Trucks to name just a few.

But these little changes add up to a great overall ride and one of the best electric skateboards under $1000.

Conclusion of the Boosted Board Alternative

As you can see there are plenty of other electric skateboard manufacturers which you may not have heard about. But all of the ones I've listed above are not just cheap tacky alternatives, They are cheaper yes but they are also still incredibly high quality.

If you prefer belt driven skateboards, then the Ownboard W2 Would absolutely be in for your preferred choice. As it's the only cheaper non-Boosted Board equivalent with that type of drive system.

As you can imagine there is plenty of hub driven boards on the list, and my absolute favourite of them at the moment is the back Fire G2T
